			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Teen Services Department of the Florence County Library System and Kaplan Testing Center are offering a FREE practice SAT test on <font class="datetime">September 11, 2010</font>.  <b>The test is open to all 9th through 12th graders only.</b>  You will learn the format<span id="more-2173"></span> of the test and take the test in a situation similar to a real test day.  <b>This is a practice test, not a skills course.</b>  Check in will start 8:45 am and the test will begin at 9:00am.  It will last to approximately 1:30 pm on that Saturday.  The test is around four and a half hours long and will be given in the main meeting room of the Florence County Library.  <b>Registration is required by <font class="datetime">September 7, 2010</font>.  To register, or if you have any questions, please call Julie Vaught at 413-7083.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Florence County Library System has been awarded a Family Literacy grant titled “Florence Families Read”.  This project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the South Carolina State Library.<span id="more-2186"></span></p>
<p>The $10,216 award will be used to launch Florence Families Reads, a Family Literacy program that targets at risk families.  Florence Families Read seeks to promote, cultivate and build lifelong relationships between families and the library.  Participants will have an opportunity to use a variety of literacy tools and special programming that will help build literacy skills as a family.  This program is part of the Library’s ongoing mission to promote literacy to all citizens of Florence County.</p>

Those who already have a job but are looking for better opportunities are also welcome. The group will meet once<span id="more-2211"></span> a month, and no work experience is required to attend.</p>
<p>Job Seekers begin on <font class="datetime">September 21 @ 6:30 p.m.</font>, at the Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library in Olanta.</p>
<p>An important reason for meeting with other people is to experience the advantages of networking with others. In addition, at each meeting a key part of the job search will be discussed. Topics will include job search engines, employment applications, cover letters, resumes, interviewing, and library resources.</p>
<p>Meetings will last forty-five minutes to an hour; no registration is required. For more information, please call the Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library in Olanta at (843) 396-4287.</p>
