Florence Library Celebrates National Poetry Month

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Pee Dee Poet Laureate, Dr. Jo Angela Edwins, will visit the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library to share her love of poetry. Accompanying Dr. Edwins on Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. will be Dr. Rebecca Flannagan and Libby Wiersema.

Dr. Edwins is the first poet laureate of the Pee Dee region in South Carolina and teaches creative writing, American literature, and composition at Francis Marion University. Dr. Flannagan is the chair of the English Department at Francis Marion University and a poet who has published poems in various journals and magazines. Libby Wiersema is a Florence area poet and writer, whose poetry chapbook, The Season of Terminal Cold, was published in 2015 by Finishing Line Press.

The poets will be reading their own original poems as well as poems by other poets that hold special meaning to them. Refreshments will be served.
