Florence Library Presents Gullah Art Virtual Presentation

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library presents a virtual presentation by Gullah artist Patricia Sabree during Women’s History Month. Viewers can follow along as Sabree talks about her journey as an artist, explores her artwork, and discusses aspects of Gullah culture and the West African culture that Gullah evolved from.

Sabree was born and raised in Lake City, S.C. on her family’s farm. She earned her B.A. from South Carolina State University and her Masters of Education from Southern Wesleyan. She taught art for twenty-one years, but in 2010 she decided to pursue her own art fulltime. She now has her own gallery; Sabree’s Gallery of the Arts in Savannah, Georgia. Sabree has received several awards for her artwork. More information about Sabree and her artwork can be found on her website, www.sabreesgallery.com.
