Florence Library Presents Poetry Reading

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library will present A Celebration of Poetry on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 starting at 5:00 p.m., in recognition of National Poetry Month. This program will feature local poets coming together to share their love of poetry.

Poets 18 years of age or older, novice or seasoned, wishing to participate in the program by sharing their original poetry or to reading a poem by a favorite poet are asked to complete the application form, and submit it to poetry@florencelibrary.org before March 20, 2023. This is not a contest, prizes will not be awarded. The goal for the evening is to share ones love of the spoken word, therefore, poets may not use costumes, props or musical instruments. Each participating poet will be given 3-4 minutes to share a poem with the audience. The audience can come listen to these “word artists” as they paint a vivid picture of what is in their hearts, souls and the world as they see it, using their words.

Les Echols will be the M.C. for the evening and a participating poet. Echols is the Director of Community and Minority Enterprise at the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.
