Florence Library Announces Book Club Selection for June 15, 2023

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library’s Book Club for Adults announces its selection for June 15, 2023.

The book selection for June is Sold on a Monday, by Kristina McMorris. This Depression- era story starts with a scrawled sign on a farmhouse porch reads “2 Children for Sale,” capturing the desperation sweeping the country in 1931. Struggling reporter Ellis Reed’s photograph of the children leads to his big break, but the consequences are unimaginably devastating. Haunted by secrets of her own, newspaper secretary Lillian Palmer sees the image and is soon drawn into the fray. Together, Ellis and Lillian set out to right a wrong and mend a fractured family, at the risk of everything they value.

The Book Club meets in person monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the Founders room. The library welcomes new participants to join in the lively book discussions. Registration is required to participate. To register, or for additional information, email book club coordinator Debbie Quesada at debbiequesada@florencelibrary.org, or call 843-413-7074.

Book Club and all of our programs are sponsored by Friends of Florence County Library.
