  • Waffle House to present program

    Description:

    Florence Library Presents Waffle Making Program

    January 18, 2019 (Florence, SC) Representatives from local Waffle House restaurants will present a cooking demonstration at The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library on Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. During the cooking demonstration, employees will offer an insider’s view of what it is like to work in this iconic restaurant chain. Fresh waffles will be prepared on-site for attendees to taste. Coffee will also be served.

    The first Waffle House Restaurant was opened on Labor Day, 1955, in Avondale, Georgia by two neighbors, Joe Rogers, Sr. and Tom Forkner. Today it has grown to over 2,100 locations in 25 states, with most restaurants located in the South. Five of the restaurants are in Florence.
    This presentation is for adults age 18 and over. Space is limited and registration is required. For additional information or to register, call the Reference Desk at (843) 413-7074. The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library is located at 509 S. Dargan Street. This program was previously scheduled for September 18, 2018 but was cancelled due to Hurricane Florence.

    Florence Library Announces Adult Winter/Spring Book Club Selections

    January 18, 2019 (Florence, SC) The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library’s Book Club has selected the following books to read and discuss for the remainder of the winter/spring season:
    March 21 - Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate 

    April 18 - Liar, Tempers, Soldier, Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War by Karen Abbott

    The Book Club is held on the third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the library, except in December. New members are invited to join for lively discussions about selected books.

    Description:

    Ages 3-5.

    A 30 minute storytime with books, songs, movement, and more.


  • Bilingual Story Time
    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: March 19, 2019 - 6:30 pm


    Description:

    Ages 2-5.

    A storytime pesented in both English and Spanish.

    0 – 23 months old -- for babies that are not walking yet.
    An adult caregiver will need to stay with the baby during the 15 minute program. The programs will consist of music, fingerplays, and stories appropriate for these age groups.

    Description:

    Geared towards children 0-24 months old -- specifically babies that are walking.

    An adult caregiver will need to stay with the baby during the 15 minute program. The programs will consist of music, fingerplays, and stories appropriate for these age groups.

    Description:

    Grades 5K – 2nd .
    The programs will consist of movies, stories, crafts and guest speakers.

    The Florence County Library will be having popular movies for families on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. The movies are rated either G or PG and are sponsored by Friends of Florence County Library.
