Library Helps Job Seekers Improve Skills

Job seekers facing a competitive employment market now have a new way to improve their chances of landing that desired job. The Florence County Library System is offering practice interview sessions so that job seekers can strengthen their interview skills so that they may be better equipped to take advantage of employment opportunities. Patrons at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library can schedule mock interview sessions with a trained employment interviewer, who will ask a series of questions that simulate a real interview. Afterward the interviewer will give the patron feedback that focuses on their strengths, as well as potential areas for improvement. Patrons can choose to have their interview video recorded so that they can review their own performance.

Audiovisual equipment for recording interviews was purchased through a grant from Monster Worldwide, Inc. Resume writing software, computer skills workshops, and other career resources augmented by helpful staff are available at all Florence County Library System locations.

These and other workforce services at the library are made possible through a partnership that includes the Pee Dee Workforce Investment Board, the Florence County Library System, and Monster Worldwide, Inc., with additional support from the Friends of Florence County Library.
